“By attending “C.H.A.C.O Dog Training & Behavior Consulting LLC” classes we learned a lot and so did our standard poodle Dash. Almudena has a first-class facility with a large field for classes, within a larger securely fenced area that readily adapts to the wide range of activities she incorporates in her teaching. She is a personable and caring individual as well as a very knowledgeable professional totally committed to helping owners and their dogs.
The classes are usually small, 4 owners with their dogs, which allows some one-on-one time with Almudena when needed, and the classes are nonthreatening and fun for the dog. With her extensive knowledge, she is able to address any special problems encountered. For example, our dog had spent the first nine months of his life in a kennel being mostly ignored. Almudena really helped socialize Dash and he’s become a confident, happy dog, who likes to play and he enjoys the company of other dogs and people.” – Robb & Kate Palmer, Tesuque, NM

“Thanks so much for the excellent recall class that Roxie and I attended. I really enjoyed it. You teach important concepts in interesting ways, and your class is a very different experience than other classes I have taken over the years. It was very helpful and thought provoking.” – Patty Sciarrotta & Roxie

Back to Basic: Teaching Two Important Dog Behaviors That Will Make Your Life Easier.
REGISTRATION is now closed.
Isn’t it great when we ask our dogs to either sit stay or down stay and they actually can do so? I can think of so many instances where this would come in very handy. And how about you being able to walk your dog without your dog pulling?
In this 4 session class we will focus on just these two behaviors: sit or lie/down & stay and loose leash walking with some distractions.
Your dog will learn that staying put on a lie down pays off. As well as learning that the fastest way to get to where it wants to go is by walking nicely on a loose leash.
You will learn the myriads of reasons why it is hard for our dogs to perform these behaviors. Together we will explore how you can help your dog ace at staying in place for more than just a few seconds as well as walking on a loose leash. NOTE: You will have to practice at home between sessions.
Requirements: Open to 6 handlers and their dogs ages 5 months onward.
Dogs are comfortable working around people and other dogs on leash. No lunging, growling or excessive barking.
Your dog has learned to sit or to lie down on a verbal cue.
The Details: Thursdays March 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th 2020. At
Zommies daycare. Located 513 Camino de los Marquez. Santa Fe.

If there is one behavioral issue I get asked for help from clients above all others, it is fear in their dogs. Fear of strangers, of other dogs, noises- such as thunder, riding in the car, being left alone, and the like. Most of these dogs’ fear is debilitating and needs our understanding, empathy, and help!
Living with an emotional dog or fearful-aggressive dog is no picnic! Both the dog and the pet parent need support. In many instances, the dog has learned to aggress because it is afraid, which makes the issue more urgent.
Unfortunately, I can’t help everyone who needs help – so I am offering this virtual comprehensive course to lead you in understanding your dog’s behavior better and to give you the practical tools and knowledge to help you help your fearful dog.
This live online course will teach you how to.
-
Identify your dog’s body language accurately well ahead of your dog “exploding” into a fearful or fearful-aggressive episode.
-
To confidently implement counter-conditioning – one of the best tools from the behavioral sciences to help your dog associate what concerns them now with all good things.
-
To correctly evaluate a situation that typically makes your dog concerned or aggressive ahead of time.
-
To identify the triggers that concern your dog.
-
Design and implement protocols to prevent your dog from practicing fear and fear/aggressive behaviors with known triggers.
-
Understand the many reinforcements you can use with your dog.
And much more.
This course is very intensive and will require weekly reading of material and, for those with a working spot, training with their dog at least three times per week. All participants will receive training plans as part of the weekly lecture-based meetings.
The Details:
The course includes the following:
40-minute orientation.
10, one-hour weekly live Zoom sessions. Eight sessions are lecture-based, and two are Q&A sessions- the recording will be made available, but participation in the live session is strongly suggested.
There are five working spots and five non-working (or audit) spots.
The five working spots include 5 30-minute— online private (live) consult/review to be scheduled during the course weeks. Clients will have to video their sessions and submit video before the review.
The non-working spots (audit) will have access to all the lectures, receive the same training plans as working spots when applicable, and participate in the Q&A. Please note that while the non-working spots may ask questions about their dog during the Q&A, they will only receive specific guidance if other attendees can learn from their situation.
Dates: Orientation, Thursday, March 7th. 10 am 10:40 am. Mountain Standard Time (USA).
The course begins on Thursday, March 14th, meets weekly, and ends on Thursday, May 16th. All meetings are held from 10 am to 11 am. Mountain Standard Time (USA).
Fees:
Working Spot: $802.00 (Santa Fe sales tax added).
Working Spot: Help Your Concerned or Fearful Dog Course
$802.00

Audit Spot: Help Your Concerned or Fearful Dog Course

Please note: This online course differs from any classes I teach. Not only because of the complexity of the issues we will be working on but also because of the commitment required from both parties. I want participants to get a lot from our time together and to be successful, so all applicants will need pre-approval to join the course. If you are interested in participating, please email me specifics about your situation with your dog before submitting payment.
