“By attending “C.H.A.C.O Dog Training & Behavior Consulting LLC” classes we learned a lot and so did our standard poodle Dash. Almudena has a first-class facility with a large field for classes, within a larger securely fenced area that readily adapts to the wide range of activities she incorporates in her teaching. She is a personable and caring individual as well as a very knowledgeable professional totally committed to helping owners and their dogs.
The classes are usually small, 4 owners with their dogs, which allows some one-on-one time with Almudena when needed, and the classes are nonthreatening and fun for the dog. With her extensive knowledge, she is able to address any special problems encountered. For example, our dog had spent the first nine months of his life in a kennel being mostly ignored. Almudena really helped socialize Dash and he’s become a confident, happy dog, who likes to play and he enjoys the company of other dogs and people.” – Robb & Kate Palmer, Tesuque, NM

“Thanks so much for the excellent recall class that Roxie and I attended. I really enjoyed it. You teach important concepts in interesting ways, and your class is a very different experience than other classes I have taken over the years. It was very helpful and thought provoking.” – Patty Sciarrotta & Roxie

Class Details:
Tellington TTouch® is a method of working with animals that has proven effective in reducing stress, fear, aggression and anxiety; as well as modify behavior, increase flexibility and—when combined with veterinarian care—aid in recovery. The approach is gentle yet systematic and helps animals to better cope with different and novel situations. It improves confidence, focus and learning.
With the use of gentle touches, body wraps and groundwork (a variety of exercises with equipment) we engage and calm the animal’s nervous system as well as teach the animal to move in non-habitual ways. Since an animal that is stressed or anxious cannot learn, the incorporation of TTouch® becomes an initial first step to any learning. Your dog will learn how to focus and better cope with situations in which he/she reacts with fear, concern or anxiety.
This workshop is ideal for guardians/owners who want to learn the basics of the TTouch® method by working with their own dog on a particular issue. During the workshop we will be working with TTouches, wraps and groundwork.
Pre-requisite:
Dogs must be crate trained OR be able to remain comfortably behind an “x pen” for periods of time during the workshop.
Dogs must be comfortable (no lunging, barking) while working in the proximity of other dogs on a leash and people.
Each dog must have a handler, but multiple family members are welcome to attend.
What to bring to every class:
A six-foot long leash (no flexi leashes please), flat collar, harness or head collar. No prong collars or pinch collars. If your dog has a flat collar but you normally walk him with a harness or head collar please bring both to the workshop.
A bed or mat for your dog.
One 4” ACE bandage (NOT the self-adhesive) for dogs over 30 lbs 2” for dogs under 30 lbs.
A frozen (with food inside) KONG of the appropriate size for your dog OR a chewy that will last and your dog loves such as bully stick, antler, etc.
Dates & times: 3 Sessions. Thursdays, March 13th, 20th and 27th from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
Fee: $106.87 (sales tax included).
Location: C.H.A.C.O Training Hub in Tesuque

Welcome to a free monthly class where the goal is for us to spend some time just having fun, learning some interesting behavior & training concepts and practicing basic skills. I encourage participants to think about either a trick that they would love to learn how to teach their dog, a new skill or to make a “silly” game. You are also welcome to come if you can’t think of anything specific at the time.
I have some ideas up my sleeve and I will also have veto power to ensure that whatever we work on is safe for our dogs and promotes good handling skills and “sportsmanship”. 🙂
Dates and times for this new “adventure” might change from month to month. At this point it is an experiment that I hope folks would love and partake in.
The Details: Saturday May 28th from 8:30am-9:30 am
Open to 6 handlers and dogs 5 months and older who are comfortable and friendly to people and other dogs. No lunging, growling or excessive barking.
If you are interested in participating please fill out the form below (notice there are forms for “new” clients and people I have worked with before).
The class will be cancelled if less than 3 people sign up for it.
NOTE: Class will be held outside so please come prepare for the elements.

Class Description: REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
Many dogs are labeled: “hyper, “stubborn” “ problem dogs” or “aggressive” when in fact, it is their lack of confidence that is the underlining factor for their behavior. As the guardians of these dogs will attests, living with a dog that lacks confidence is a challenge.
In this six weeks course, we will explore a myriad of activities based on reward based dog training as well as the Tellington TTouch® method to build your dog’s confidence and increase his well being.
Together we will develop a dog that is a thinking dog instead of a reacting dog.
Your dog will develop trust, self-awareness and how to cope with a constantly changing environment. As a result he will learn to respond to novel situations with curiosity as opposed to fear.
This course is ideal for young dogs that need more structure, dogs with mild fears or lack overall confidence.
Prerequisite: No prior training experienced needed. However, since a group class can be a stressful environment for some dogs, this class is not appropriate for dogs that lunge, bark or snarl at people or other dogs. If your dog suffers from severe fear or aggression consider private training as a great first step before joining a group class.
Dates & Time: Saturday May 11th, 18th, 25th, June 1st, 8th and 15th . From 11am -12 noon. Registration closes Wed. May 8th at 5 pm.
First class is a people-only class, no dogs please. Open to six dogs age 5 months and older and their guardians.
Required Vaccinations: Rabies, DHLPP (distemper & parvo). Proof of vaccination required at 1︎st class. Or titer test results in lieu of DHLPP vaccines.
Trainer: Almudena Ortiz Cué M.A. CTC, CPDT, Tellington TTouchTM Cert.
Fee: $235.67 (Santa Fe county tax included)
NOTE: Almudena will be e-mailing class participants the Wednesday prior to class with information as what to bring, directions to site etc.
For new clients, you must complete the form on this page and submit payment below before registering for this class. If you are a current client (or have taken a class/private training with Almudena) C.H.A.C.O. Dog Training & Behavior Consulting, LLC., please complete the form on this page here.
