Who Let The Dogs Out?!!!

Posted on January 7, 2022February 28, 2025 by Almudena Ortiz Cue

If you live with dogs, you can relate to a moment of gasping for breath, as you realize someone left the gate open, and now the dogs are gone!

These couple of years have left many of us with similar moments of wanting to take in a nourishing, calming breath. To let go a little.

And guess what? Our dogs are noticing! They, too, get affected by our own stress and mental-merry-go-round. So they, too, are probably “holding their breath.”

I want to turn a corner and delight in simple and joyful experiences. I want to stop gasping for air! So, as my gift to myself and hopefully, to you and your dog (s), I am running a series of classes that focus on harmony, relaxation, and better communication between our dogs and us. Below you will find links to the classes. I hope you will join me!

Upcoming Classes:

Kinder Pup 1
Details: Your puppy’s proper socialization should start pronto! A well-socialized puppy – one that welcomes the interaction of friendly people and dogs is not only a happy pup but also a pleasure to live with. Kinder Pup 1 curriculum supports learning at your dog’s level as well as real-life scenarios because after all, puppies are still puppies even when you leave the classroom!
Dates & Times: Saturdays Jan 22nd, 29th, Feb 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th. From 10am – 11am.

Online Puppy Support Group
Details: Taking your puppy to a reputable puppy class will help you and your puppy in many ways. You will learn essential skills and how to perform them correctly, allow your puppy to feel comfortable around other people, and hone crucial play skills and bite inhibition. However, because a puppy class is a busy learning environment for both puppies and their parents, it is nearly impossible to delve into detail with some of the most pressing issues puppy parents encounter at home.
Dates & Times:  Wednesdays Jan 26th, Feb 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, Mar 2nd, 9th, and 16th. From 10am – 10:45am.

Teach your Dog to (Really) Relax Anywhere!
Details: Dogs, just like people, are not born with self-control. We must teach them to modulate their arousal levels when the occasion calls for it. This life skill will provide your dog with a calm demeanor in difficult situations such as the vet’s office, a hotel- lobby, cafe, a group class, and even at home! In order  for your dog to truly relax, we must set the appropriate environment so that your dog feels safe and learns that relaxing is the name of this game!
Dates & Times: Saturdays Mar 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th. From 1pm – 2pm for Orientation, 1pm – 1:45pm for the class with dogs.

Living Harmoniously with a Herding Dog
Details: Do you share your life with a (or a few) herding-breed dog? Congratulations! Your life will be full of adventures, requests for activities that seem never to stop, a loyal companion. This class will help you identify a myriad of possibilities for change and improvements in the life of your at-home-herding dog. It will also transform your relationship with your working dog and provide depth to your understanding and appreciation for who they are.
Dates & Times:  Saturdays, April 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, May 7th and 14th. From 1pm – 2pm.

How to Play With Your Dog for Enjoyment, Bonding and Rehabilitation. A (Zoom) Online 4-Week Class
Details: During this course, you will learn what constitutes good social play. Learning how to play with your dog could be the ultimate tool to help your dog thrive or re-focus when over-stimulated.
Dates & Times: Tuesdays, May 31st, June 7th, 14th, 21 from 1pm- 2pm (US Mountain time) and
Private Zoom meet-up Fridays, June 10th and 24th. From 1pm – 1:40 pm.
