Would you like your dog to be off-leash and have that connection with your dog where he/she for certain comes back when called? If so, I have two upcoming courses that are right for you and your dog.
Get Connected with your Dog starts on Saturday, June 3rd through the 24th from 8-9am.
Once this class has been mastered, you can register for my advanced Hey, Fido! Come! class. Hey, Fido is from July 15th through the 29th from 8-9am. More details on both classes are below. I look forward to seeing you in class!
Most people would love to have their dog off-leash. And I agree that allowing our dogs that freedom is one of the best things for physical and mental stimulation. However, off-leash romps are a privilege that a dog must earn. Dogs that do not come back when called and their person are missing is to connect!
Connection is a skill that all dogs can learn, and if allowed to romp off-leash, connection with their person is a must for dogs to remain safe. However, consider also that every time your dog runs away from you (i.e., not connected!), the behavior becomes (as any other behavior) the default response. Practice indeed makes permanent.
In this class, you will learn how to elicit connection from your dog and teach them that connection pays “big dividends.” During the course we will practice so that your dog is successful from the get go and moving forward to more realistic scenarios (distractions) so that connection becomes the default behavior.
Connection with your dog is the first prerequisite to having an off-leash dog come when called. If you have that connection, you can now venture into off-leash adventures.
In this course, we will first practice in a safe-fenced area with your dog off-leash and progress to off-leash work on a trail or open space.
