“By attending “C.H.A.C.O Dog Training & Behavior Consulting LLC” classes, we learned a lot and so did our standard poodle Dash. Almudena has a first-class facility with a large field for classes, within a larger securely fenced area that readily adapts to the wide range of activities she incorporates in her teaching. She is a personable and caring individual as well as a very knowledgeable professional totally committed to helping owners and their dogs.
The classes are usually small, 4 owners with their dogs, which allows some one-on-one time with Almudena when needed, and the classes are nonthreatening and fun for the dog. With her extensive knowledge, she is able to address any special problems encountered. For example, our dog had spent the first nine months of his life in a kennel being mostly ignored. Almudena really helped socialize Dash and he’s become a confident, happy dog, who likes to play and he enjoys the company of other dogs and people.” – Robb & Kate Palmer, Tesuque, NM

From participants of the Developing the Confident Dog class.

“Thanks so much for the excellent recall class that Roxie and I attended. I really enjoyed it. You teach important concepts in interesting ways, and your class is a very different experience than other classes I have taken over the years. It was very helpful and thought provoking.” – Patty Sciarrotta & Roxie

I created this new low-impact sport modality to enhance subtle communication with our dogs as we strive to refine obedience training with precision in its execution, incorporating elements of canine fitness.

Our teams work together, moving smoothly from one station to the next. The real challenges are twofold: completing the behaviors at each station and maintaining a strong connection with your dog as you travel together toward the next challenge.

As the teams improve their performance, the level of challenge increases by incorporating a faster pace, while maintaining connection, and adding time requirements to complete the course.

Here is an example of some of the challenges and behaviors, along with their corresponding levels.

Sitting

Level 1: Sit on a platform – sloppy sit.

Level 2:  Sit on a platform in a sphinx (knees pointing forward, thighs parallel to the body)

Level 3: Duration- hold the sphinx for  “x” seconds.

Transitions

Level 1: Walk on a semi-loose leash to the next  station

Level 2: Walk to the next station on a loose leash

Level 3: Walk on a loose leash  and check in with the handler

Standing

Level 1: Stand for 3 seconds without shifting the weight between legs

Level 2: Increase the duration of a solid stand to 10 seconds

Level 3: Stand in a “stacked” position.

Level 4: Maintain the stacked position with distractions.

Movement with Precision

Level 1: Cavaletti on the ground, lured to maintain focus

Level 2: Cavaletti, less luring and trotting from point to point, end to end

Level 3: Cavaletti, trotting, no luring, focused forward.

All teams will have access to videos of the various challenges and behaviors, allowing them to practice at home.
